Each month, there are several Children’s Events going on at Wesley to help educate and bring our children closer to our Lord Jesus Christ. Here’s what’s coming up for kids at Wesley!

Worship News:

Children’s bulletins are available at both services. Children can color Bible scenes, look up scripture readings, and work puzzles that relate to the readings of the day. The best use of these bulletins however, is as a discussion starter at home. Ask an usher for one and try it this week!

Date Night:

Mark your calendars! Friday, March 5 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. will be “Date night” for Wesley families. Child care will be provided at the church while you enjoy some time ALONE. We would like to continue this each month with parents rotating the babysitting duties. If you would like to participate, please contact Libby or Chris at family.ministry@wesleyvienna.com.

Confirmation Class:

Confirmation is an important part of the spiritual growth of our children. Through the classes we help your children learn more about what it means to be a Christian, a United Methodist, and a member of Wesley’s community of faith. We will begin our confirmation class for 6th graders (and older) with an informational meeting on Sunday, March 7. We understand that everyone has busy schedules and would like to choose a weekly meeting time that accommodates the most families.

Talent Show:

Show off your funny, serious, inventive, or musical talent on Friday, March 12, from 7:00-8:30pm in the Fellowship Hall. We will have cookies and ice cream following the show. A sign-up sheet is in the Fellowship Hall.

Naval Observatory Tour:

The tour has been rescheduled for March 26. Please sign up in the Fellowship Hall in advance as we will need to get security clearance for each person attending.

Easter Party:

The Children’s Easter Party will be on Saturday, March 27, from 10:00-12:00 we will have an egg hunt, fun crafts, and a simple snack. Please join us! If you can volunteer to set up or clean up for this event please let Libby or Chris know.

Children’s Choir:

Our children will be part of the Processional on Palm Sunday, March 28. They will also be singing “Tell Me the Stories of Jesus” for the congregation. They will be practicing each week during Children’s church on Sundays during the 8:45 service, after the “Children’s Message”. All children are invited to attend. Vacation Bible School:

Save the date for VBS! Monday, July 12 to Friday, July 16 will be our fun filled week! The theme will be “Son Harvest County Fair.” Children will learn to grow love, sprout joy, plant peace, produce patience, and pick kindness. Registration will begin in April.

Children’s Library:

Check out our new books in the children’s library! Older children might enjoy My Life as a Broken Bungee Cord by Bill Meyers. It has ten exciting chapters about a boy who deals with one calamity after another and finally learns to put his trust in God. We have several new books for parents too. Good and Angry-Exchanging Frustration for Character…in You and Your Kids! by Scott Turansky and Joanne Miller is a great resource for parents to check out.
