Prayer plays an important part in the life of Wesley UMC’s members and friends. We lift up those in need at our Worship services, but also recognize the need to thank our Gracious and Everlasting Lord for the many blessings He has provided and continues to provide to us. In order to encourage our members and friends to pray continually, we encourage all committees and working groups to open and close their meetings with prayer.

Wesley UMC also supports formal and informal Prayer Groups as well as a congregational prayer chain. Our prayer ministry includes:

• Neighborhood prayer groups established for both WUMC members and others in the neighborhood
• A Daily Prayer network whose members receive a daily prayer from the pastor by e-mail
• Prayer Vigils conducted periodically at the request of either the pastor or a member of the congregation (such as the tragedy at Virginia Tech in 2006).
